Our Favourite Rescues of 2025: Jon Bon Meowi

19 December 2025

For Animal Welfare Officer, Kayte, Jon Bon Meowi was one of her favourite rescue stories of 2025.

Jon Bon Meowi was a cat brought into us as part of a multi animal household, sadly his owner was being evicted and could no longer care for him and the other animals in the home.
When he first arrived, he was incredibly nervous and frightened of the team and veterinary staff. He’d hiss at staff and flatten his ears, which is understandable given his rough start in life. We decided to move him into a foster environment, giving him the chance to settle and get used to being in a family home. He flourished and became a sweet loving boy who loved attention and being stroked. He also loved chasing toys and then settling down into a cozy, warm spot once done for the day.
During his time with us we discovered that he was FIV+ which meant he needed to be indoor only. There are lots of misunderstandings around FIV+ cats when the reality is that cats with FIV can live very long, happy lives like any other cat only requiring a bit more TLC if they become ill and need sheltering from viruses, hence the indoor only.
After seven months in our care, Jon Bon Meowi found his new home and is thriving.
Kayte said: ‘I chose Jon Bon Meowi as he was originally thought to be ‘too spicy’ to be rehomed and our fosterer was a lifeline, allowing him to show his true personality! She managed to turn him around and now he’s been rehomed and is also living his best life!”
