Needing to rehome your pet
There is a lot of joy and reward in owning a pet but it is also a big responsibility that we understand can be overwhelming.
Worries about finances, a relationship breakdown or behavioural concerns can all be a potential reason to need to rehome your pet but as a small, independent Branch, we sadly do not always have the space to take in further animals.
We are duty bound to prioritise animals brought into us by the Inspectorate and as these animals have usually been subject to neglect and abuse they take a little longer to find homes and can be in our care for a long time.
If you are finding yourself in a position where you might need to give up your pet, our friendly and non judgemental team can talk you through the process and advise of any help that is out there for you.
Financial Aid Support
If you are worried about financial costs, we might be able to help you reduce the burden a little.
As well as our adoption and rehoming work, we provide a variety of services and support for pet owners to help them care for their animals.
Subsidised neutering is available for cats, dogs and rabbits and can be applied for through an online application. These vouchers are valid for six months and can also include a free microchip if you need one. We also offer financial aid for veterinary bills on a case by case basis. As a charity, we are unfortunately limited in our resources so are not always able to offer assistance but will always try to or signpost.
Pet Food Banks
If you are worried about paying for pet food we can provide short term support
We operate a small pet food bank service which you can apply for by phone or email. We can usually help with wet and dry cat and dog food but occasionally have food available for exotics and small furries as well.
Please be aware we cannot always guarantee to have a specific brand or specialist food in stock but will always try to help where we can.
