Meet the Team: Jess, E-Commerce Manager

This month’s ‘Meet the Team’ profile features Jess Scannell, our e-Commerce Manager! Jess manages our online retail side including eBay and Vinted.

We asked Jess some ‘quick-fire’ interview questions to find out more about why she wanted to work for the RSPCA, and what she get’s up to when she’s not posting eBay listings and organising stock.

Why did you want to work for the RSPCA?

I believe deeply in the RSPCA’s mission. Working for the charity felt like the perfect balance between building a fulfilling career and making a real difference for animals and the community.

What’s the best thing about your job?

For me, the best part is the variety and flexibility. I love being able to see the whole process — from where it begins to the incredible good the funds go on to do. And of course, I feel very lucky to have Rowan, my dog, as my daily office buddy!

What’s a funny thing your pet does?

Rowan has taken on the role of my unofficial PA. If someone calls my name, she’ll run over to paw me (and sometimes bark) to make sure I’ve heard, and she often brings me random bits of paper as if they’re urgent memos.

What’s your favourite way to spend a weekend?

For me, the perfect weekend is a mix of fresh air and relaxation — a long walk with Rowan, a good coffee, and time with my family. Bonus points if it involves snacks and good film!

What are you most proud of?

Defying the odds after being advised not to take my English GCSE due to dyslexia — I took both English and English Literature and got an A. Taught me the power of self-belief and good support.
