Education for All

We provide educational talks and workshops to a wide range of audiences.

Are you interested in hosting us for an education session?

Our education talks are carried out on a wide range of topics including wildlife care, the history of animal welfare and dangers of litter. We can custom tailor a session for you depending on your audience and what sort of topics you are looking for. Click the options below to learn more about what we offer.

Adult Groups

As a local Independent charity, we offer talks to Adult Groups to promote not only the work we do but also to give advice on the services we provide, how people can help animals in need of help and the role and responsibilities of RSPCA Mid Norfolk and North Suffolk Branch, National RSPCA and the Inspectorate.

Each workshop is between 1 and 2 hours long, depending on the group’s requirements and the type of session they would like. Each talk is designed with the audience in mind. We can hold sessions that, in addition to the above, focus on the History of the RSPCA, the role RSPCA and animals played in both World Wars, the dangers of litter on wildlife, what to do if an injured or orphaned animal is found or ways individuals can support the work we do. If the group would like, we can also work in time for a Question-and-Answer session. There is no charge for these workshops, however, if your group is able to make a donation for the speaker visiting, we would be most grateful. We are also able to bring a small selection of RSPCA Merchandise with us to sell following the talk and a donation tin should individuals wish to donate.

Youth Groups

As a local Independent charity, we are working with young people’s groups to promote our work and inspire the next generation to be a generation of kindness.

The majority of our work is the result of animals not being properly cared for and it is hoped that by working with young people we can educate them about the 5 basic welfare needs of an animal, allowing them to understand the responsibilities of pet ownership. Hence, they understand the responsibility of pet ownership but the dangers of litter to wildlife, what it means to be a Charity and how they can help us to help even more animals.

These workshops can be a standalone visit or can link into a community project, group event or as part of the group working towards their own Charity Badge (currently linked to Girlguiding).

Each workshop is between 1 and 2 hours long, depending on the group and the type of session they would like. We run workshops for groups ranging from 4 years through to 18 years. Each workshop is designed with the audience in mind; we can hold sessions that involve interactive activities, quizzes and games, presentation- style talk and group discussions and activities.

There is no charge for these workshops, however, if your group is able to take part in our give-back scheme, it has proven not only beneficial to us but gives the young people a specific task to take away from the session. The give-back scheme is a fundraiser for us and can be anything from a cake sale, raffle or car boot stall to a sponsored event, bingo night or a community event. The possibilities are endless, and we are grateful for the support.

The give-back scheme is optional, and not taking part does not prevent you from having a session delivered.

Schools, Colleges and Universities

As a local independent charity, we are working with schools to promote not only the work we do but also to inspire the next generation to be a generation of kindness.

The majority of our work is the result of animals not being properly cared for, and it is hoped that by working with young people, we can educate them in not only the 5 basic welfare needs of an animal, so they understand the responsibility of pet ownership, but the dangers of litter to wildlife, what it means to be a Charity and how they can help us to help even more animals.

We are also working with young people on the history of the National RSPCA and the role they played in both World Wars, what a campaign is and the different ones we are involved in. We also work with classes, School Councils and Eco Clubs, looking at how wildlife-friendly their school is and what improvements they could make for wildlife.

Each classroom session is 1 hour long and starts with us looking at RSPCA Mid Norfolk and North Suffolk Branch, what we do to help animals, and what types of animals we look after. The second half of the session is the choice of each individual class.

For schools with more than 5 classes wanting a workshop, we are able to arrange the visit slightly differently. This would include a whole school assembly and then up to 8, 30-minute workshops.

We make no charge for these sessions, however we do ask if, as a school, you are able to take part in our give-back scheme. This has proven beneficial to us and gives the children a specific task linked to a visit where they know that they are helping animals in their local area.

The give-back scheme is a fundraiser and can be anything from a cake sale or non-uniform day to a sponsored event or having our Branch as the Schools nominated Charity for the year. It can be anything and take place before or after a visit.
