Would you like to Gift Aid your donation? If so, please tick the box……
Did you tick the box? That simple tick means we will receive an extra 25% on your donation making your donation even bigger, without any cost to you!
So what is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a government scheme that allows charities such as ours, to reclaim the tax that you have already paid on your donations through UK Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax.
All individual donations are eligible for the scheme, including regular gifts such as Standing Orders and Direct Debits.
You can Gift Aid some, if not all of your donations (even previous donations made in the last four years), so you will be doing 25% more to help animals in need with a simple tick or mouse click!
For example If you donate £5 a month to us, it’s a total of £60 a year. To gift aid the £60 you need to pay equal to or more than £60 a year in tax. So if you tick the box saying YES to Gift Aid, we will receive an extra 25%, making your donations grow to £75 a year with no extra cost to you. So that’s an extra £15 for animals in need! That extra £15 could pay for flea and worm treatment for one of our cats, or for some tasty food for a dog!
How does it work?
You can Gift Aid any donations you make in person, via post or on our website.
For example, if you make a cash, cheque or debit card donation – Gift Aid it!
If you donate items to any of our shops or eBay store – Gift Aid it!
When you make your donation, let us know you would like to Gift Aid it, you can do this by telling our Receptionist Jamie by calling 0303 040 1565 or emailing him at email@example.com. Or you can tell the Shop Manager that you are donating any goods to.
Once you say yes to Gift Aid, we do a happy dance before we send you a short form to fill in. Once your details have been received we will send you your Gift Aid number. This can then be used for all future donations if you wish to make any.
If you donate on our website, you can tick the box and that will inform us that you would like to make your donation even bigger. When we see you have ticked the box, you guessed it, we do a little happy dance! Then we send you a short online form to fill out. Once that is all done, we will provide you with your Gift Aid number.
Your Gift Aid number can then be used for future donations!
I donated but forgot to Gift Aid it
No problem! You can still add Gift Aid to a previous donation, just let Jamie know and we can sort that out for you. If it is something you donated to one of our shops, contact the Shop Manager and they will be able to help you.
Am I eligible?
If you already Gift Aid your donations and your circumstances change meaning you are no longer paying enough tax, it’s important to tell all the charities you support. If you don’t tell them and they continue claiming Gift Aid, you’ll need to pay any difference back to HMRC.
I already Gift Aid to another charity
Fantastic! Did you know you can Gift Aid to more than one charity at a time? You do have to register at each charity separately though but that’s no big deal, it only takes a few minutes!
I cannot be bothered, will it really make much of a difference?
In 2019 we raised £37,370.65 through Gift Aid alone. That all went to your local Branch to help animals in need, how brilliant is that! Our animals really do notice a difference.
£5 covers the cost of a microchip for a cat or dog
£15 covers the cost of flea and worm treatment for a cat
£21 covers the cost of flea and worm treatment for a dog
£40 covers the cost of a cats annual vaccination
£50 covers the cost of a cat to be neutered
£70 covers the cost of a dogs annual vaccination
£200 covers the cost of a dog to be neutered
£210 covers the cost of boarding for one our cats for 21 days
£231 covers the cost of boarding for one of our dogs for 21 days
It is estimated £750 million goes unclaimed each year from donors not saying yes to Gift Aid. Could you imagine if £750 million went to your favourite charities across the UK instead?!
So go on, if you do pay enough tax, tick that box and help us to help even more animals in need. Just look at what we did in 2020!
