Volunteering

We couldn't do our work without the help of our amazing volunteers. If you have time to spare, there's a role for you!

What kind of volunteering can I do?

We have lots of roles for different levels of experience or expertise. We do not have an animal centre so unfortunately don't have many roles interacting with our animals but the contribution of every volunteer makes a difference to the lives of vulnerable animals in need. If you're looking to meet new people, develop skills or just want to give back to the community - there's a role for you.

Volunteer in our Charity Shops

We have six shops across Norfolk that help us to raise the money needed for us to carry out our vital work.

Our Charity Shop volunteers support our fantastic retail team in selling and organising donated goods for our shops.

We have roles in the stock room, on the shop floor or behind the till so whatever your preferences – there’ll be a role for you!

Volunteer as a Fosterer

Fosterers provide temporary care and safe accommodation for our animals whilst they are waiting for their forever homes.

Fostering is such an important role within the Branch as many animals that come into our care have suffered from neglect and do not settle well in cattery or kennel environments.

We primarily care for cats, dogs and rabbits but occasionally have exotics such as birds and reptiles too which also if you are able to take these in please do get in touch! We cover all expenses such as food, equipment and vet bills.

If you have professional experience that you think will support our charitable mission, we’d love to hear from you.

We are particularly looking to hear from applicants with a marketing, fundraising or veterinary background.

Frequently Asked Questions

Fostering

No. Veterinary treatment is covered by the branch and we will provide you with all supplies needed to look after the animal. All we ask of you is to provide a caring home environment for the foster animal while they wait for their forever home.

Each animal in foster is case by case- depending on the animal, it’s needs, and when they can be ready for adoption can determine how long they may be in foster care. We understand that people have breaks or holidays in the year, and can make pre-agreed arrangements for this when fostering an animal.

Yes, you can foster if you have your own pets. We do ask that you follow our guidelines for the animal that you are fostering which will be discussed in detail with you on your initial home visit, and each time a new animal is brought to you for foster care.

We ideally want to recruit fosterers that want to foster longer term as the process is quite lengthy and we have a high demand of rehoming.

There is always a possibility that an animal could need an emergency vet visit due to an unexpected illness or injury which can happen outside of hours that we operate. In these cases it is essential that private transport is available to ensure the animal can be seen by a vet and is not reliant on the branch or public transport in an emergency situation.

Trustees

The commitment is to attend a 2-hour trustee meeting once every other month and an Annual General Meeting, but you can get involved as little or as much as you’d like with our events and other Branch activities.

The role entails shaping the future of the branch and making a difference to raise money for animal welfare.
