Same mission, new name: We’re officially RSPCA Norwich
10 September 2024
We have officially renamed to RSPCA Norwich (formerly RSPCA Mid Norfolk and North Suffolk), launching as part of our heritage week at the Forum, Norwich.
While we will continue to cover the same area and support communities across Norfolk and Suffolk, we’re excited to announce that we will now operate under the punchier name of RSPCA Norwich.
The decision to rename was driven by our desire to build a more recognisable brand and demonstrate our strong ties to the largest city in East Anglia, where we have been active for 150+ years. Although we provide essential animal welfare services across a broader region, including Norfolk and Suffolk, our new name emphasises our roots and central operations in and around Norwich.
Gregory Brown, RSPCA Norwich CEO, commented on the rebrand:
“I’m incredibly proud of the work we do throughout Norfolk and Suffolk, however, as we’ve evolved and undergone a visual rebrand this year in-line with the national RSPCA movement, we wanted to operate under a name that rolled off the tongue a little easier, and represented the brilliant city of Norwich.
“We believe that some of our strongest connections and most impactful work is centered in and around Norwich, where we help hundreds of animals in need each year through our transformative rescuing, rehabilitating rehoming work and education programmes.
“We also work closely with the Norwich community to provide pet owners with much needed financial aid, including subsidised veterinary care and pet food banks, which has proven to be a lifeline throughout the cost of living crisis.
“I am confident that this change will help us better align with our supporters and the communities we serve and help us to drive vital funding opportunities during a period that is tougher than ever for the charity sector.”
Despite the name change, we would like to assure the public that our mission remains unchanged. RSPCA Norwich will continue to provide the same level of care and support for animals across Norfolk and Suffolk. The rebranding is part of a broader strategy to enhance the charity’s visibility and encourage local supporters to better understand our crucial work.
We have currently created new brand assets such as a logo and are excited to launch our new website today, in-line with our new name. Over time, we will also adjust our vehicles, uniform, print media and shop fronts to reflect our new name.
We will continue to deliver our core services, including animal rescuing, rehoming and adoption, financial aid and our comprehensive education programme across our Branch area. Our charity shops will also continue their retail operations across Attleborough, Cromer, Dereham, Queens Road (Norwich) and Magdalen Street (Norwich), Sheringham and Wymondham, as well as online via our eBay store, which provide essential income for our animal welfare operations.
We are also continuing to encourage support from members , and have a number of volunteering positions available, and would also love to hear from local businesses who are interested in becoming one of our corporate partners.
