Meet our new Dereham Deputy Shop Manager – Hannah

It’s time for our next ‘Meet the Team’ profile and this month we’re introducing you to a new staff member, Hannah, who joined our retail team as Deputy Shop Manager for our Dereham shop in April.
Hannah has had a lifelong association with the RSPCA – from helping her aunts care for and release animals from the East Winch wildlife centre as a child, to adopting 4 cats from the RSPCA. She was also previously the manager of an RSPCA shop in Coventry, but loves being back home in Norfolk and still a part of the RSPCA family.
We asked Hannah a few questions so our supporters can get to know her better:
What does a day in the life of your job look like?
Receiving and sorting donations, processing and presenting stock neatly in the shop, creating window displays, meeting fantastic customers (human, canine and feline!) as we all work together to raise funds for animals in need. No two days are the same.
What are the best parts / most challenging parts of your role?
I love being creative, meeting new people and their pets, presenting the shop well and working with our Manager Hayley, who is so hard working and dedicated to do all we can to run an efficient, profitable shop to maximise sales and minimise waste for our cause. It is challenging to build up the team of volunteers.
Do you have any pets?
What's your favourite animal and why?
A giraffe; it reminds me to always stand tall and keep my head up high!
What's a fun fact about yourself that would surprise people?
I lived in Uganda for 6 months working with children with disabilities, which also prompted me to learn some sign language. Love cheese. Hate cotton wool.
