Coco and her kittens
Coco gave birth in our care to five beautiful kittens
The ‘nut’ babies are an adorable litter of kittens that were born whilst in our care in 2023. Their Mum, Coco, came into our care after her previous owner could no longer look after her and it soon became evident she was very heavily pregnant. Despite her young age, it was clear that she’d given birth several times before so she was placed with one of our expert fosterers who has lots of experience with pregnant cats and kittens. Coco gave birth to five beautiful kittens under the watchful eye of her fosterer, who even helped her to deliver her fourth after he became stuck and we named them Pistachio, Brazil, Macadamia, Cashew and Hazel. Like their Mum, the litter of kittens were a very chilled and relaxed bunch, always being very well behaved at vet appointments and happily cuddling up together after a long day of playing. It wasn’t very long before they were ready to find their forever homes and all five plus Mama cat, Coco, were adopted by wonderful new families.
Perry
Perry is a sweet older cat that sadly came into our care as his owner was no longer able to care for him.
Perry is a sweet older cat that sadly came into our care as his owner was no longer able to care for him. He hadn’t been kept in the best conditions and had scabs inside his ears. The first thing our veterinary team spotted was that he was much older than initially reported and was probably at least ten years old. It can be harder to find homes for cats that are older but the odds were sadly even more against Perry as he was sadly found to have skin cancer. Whilst in our care Perry became best friends with another cat called Kelso, who came from the same household and they were inseparable. Kelso was a little more reserved than Perry and preferred to keep watch whilst Perry got all the attention but thanks to their friendship, they both slowly gained their confidence. Our Animal Welfare team had the best Christmas present you can ask for when in December, we found the perfect home for them both. Perry and Kelso were officially adopted ten days before Christmas and Perry had his first cuddle with his new owner on Boxing Day! They are loving their new life, both slowly getting braver and exploring their surroundings
Biscotti and Cannoli
Biscotti (Scotti) and Cannoli are two male rats that came into our care after their owner could no longer care for them.
They were in good health, just a little hungry and thirsty, so after a bit of care and treatment they were quickly ready for their forever homes. As Biscotti and Cannoli were bonded already, we knew we wanted to find them a home together and fortunately it didn’t take long for one of our members of staff to fall in love with them! They have now been in their forever home for just under a year and are loving life and being spoiled rotten. Scotti’s favourite snacks are breadsticks and he loves to climb, jump and explore every corner of the room and investigate every item he finds. Cannoli is a little more cautious and prefers to spend a lot of time cuddling up with his new owner instead of exploring, either hiding in his owners hood or down their jumper! He loves kitchen roll paper, and will make a nest anywhere he finds fit and also loves eating unshelled peas! Rats can have a bit of a nasty reputation with people assuming they are dirty or will bite but in reality, they are clean and high social animals! They are complex and need lots of stimulation and care but in return they are highly rewarding pets. Rats can be taught tricks, have excellent memories and form strong bonds with their owners.
