Our branch never puts a healthy animal to sleep, no matter how long it takes to find them the perfect home. The only reason an animal in our care is euthanised is when it has been deemed the kindest thing to do by both our behaviourist and or vets.
We have had animals in our care for over 12 months before, and once we have concerns that their stay is becoming too long, we seek assistance from other RSPCA branches and sometimes end up swapping the animal in question for one of thier "long stays"! This way we have found it increases the chances of more people seeing them and ultimately offering them a forever home! The longer a cat or dog stays with us, the more it costs the branch and the more the staff and volunteers get attached!
Below are some of our most recent happy endings!
The best feeling in the world for all involved at the RSPCA Norwich and Mid Norfolk branch, is when we hear back from the new owners about how well their new beloved pet has settled in!
The money raised by the branch through its charity shops and fundraising goes directly into caring for local animals, so if you have donated to the branch before, or you are thinking of making a donation then please also check out our Before and After page to see where your money has been spent. You can also visit our Special Appeals page to see those animals needing financial assistance right now!
